If my life up until now were a skit, it would go like this:
Act 1
Me: Life, I have a purpose!
Life: Yeah? Well that’s nice. Purposes are nice…Whoa! What’s that over your shoulder?!
Me: Huh, what? I don’t see anything…[quick movements and sounds behind my head as I turn around] Hey where’d my purpose go?!
Life: Hmm, purpose? Um, what’s a purpose? Never heard of it.
Me: Uh…what…uh…Oh man! Dude, that was foul. Well back to the drawing board. At least I don’t have to start from scratch. I’ve still got some useful information and ideas in this head of mine. Things should go easy peasy.
Life: Yeah…sure…If you say so.
Me: What do you mean?! You know what? Nix that. I do say so! And you just watch me!
[Da-da-da! Gasp, cliffhanger ending]
Act 2
In development. …Reserve you seat now.
Does any part of my skit resonate with you? If so, then welcome! I am Olanta and I am in the pursuit of progress. We all possess an arsenal of skills that when used efficiently makes our life gravy. Full disclosure: I don’t always use my skills efficiently, and I know I have that in common with a lot of you. I’ve been getting progressively better at it though and I can’t say enough how much peace of mind that brings to me! I guard my peace of mind because to me it is essential to my personal development.
I am not the only one in the blogosphere to address personal growth, and thank heavens for that! No one individual can handle such an important topic. We need a community to raise our village. I know when I sought out help during my tougher times, I connected with the stories of so many others. So what can I offer here at Just Me, Maybe You?
If sharing my experiences and thoughts about my life can help someone else who might be struggling with similar issues as mine, then I’ve achieved the primary goal of this blog. It might be just my ‘ish’, but maybe you might find value in it one way or another.
When I write an article for Just Me, Maybe You, I hold myself to the objectives of:
- Serving as an additional team member in your support system
- Sharing my experiences, both the good and bad. And as my daughter says, “Sharing is caring”
- Learning more about what interests me through research on my own and interaction with you
- Educating others when possible
- Entertaining those who stop by
- Connecting with new people thereby expanding both our social networks
- Using a few SAT words because doggone-it, I persevered in memorizing those words.
Many roads can get us to the same place, and I am psyched that you’re here at Just Me, Maybe You. Heck, I’m grateful that you at least read all the way through to this very spot! Since you’re here already, why not stroll around? And if you are stoked by what you read, subscribe for up-to-date access to new articles when posted!
A Few Demographics and A Quick Backstory:
So my full name is Olanta Chandler, and I am a thirty-something year old mother, wife, and career woman with a strong background in research and a growing interest in project management. I’ve got a list of hobbies that I’m eager to complete. And don’t you know I even have a plan to make that happen, one that I’m definitely going to share with you all. I don’t know the origin of my name so if anyone can help me out with this then please do!
Midway during my life’s plot twist, a well-meaning colleague said to me, “You are like a leaf in the wind”. She was right. What she didn’t know was that a lot was going wrong in the other domains of my life. My PhD track had veered so far of course that it became more of a goat-path. My family life was at best described as disorganized. Anxiety took up residence in my life along with fear, doubt, regret, embarrassment, and sorrow.
I went through a series of rock bottoms because, as those of you who’ve experienced struggle know, there rarely is ever ONE rock bottom. When I finally decided to end my fall to yet another rock bottom, I started a process that now brings me to you here at Just Me, Maybe You. Reclaiming my peace of mind ranks as one of the toughest things I’ve ever done, and I’ve experienced the ‘ring of fire’ curtesy childbirth (seriously I told the medical team that I wasn’t going to push anymore).
Well, thank you for stopping by! I’ve got loads more to talk about and I’m eager to share. Feel free to share your comments as well. If you want to take it a step further, why don’t you contact me to continue our conversation! Better yet, if you look to the right, you’ll see an opportunity to subscribe to Just Me, Maybe You. You will receive alerts about new posts plus any other interesting and relevant updates–don’t worry, I won’t flood your email!
Best regards,
Olanta
